What: Mississippi Ag & Outdoor Expo
When: Feb. 17-19, 2023
Where: Trade Mart Building, Mississippi State Fairgrounds, Jackson, MS
The Mississippi Ag & Outdoor Expo is the largest outdoor show held in Mississippi. The mid-winter show will be held Feb. 17-19 in the Trade Mart Building on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson.
The show, hosted by The Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and presented by Southern Ag Credit, will feature displays and vendors for everything from fishing, hunting, agriculture and outdoor recreation. It will run concurrently with the Dixie National Livestock Show & Rodeo.
“Mississippi’s natural resources include outstanding deer- and turkey-hunting opportunities, as well as a handful of lakes and reservoirs that are consistently ranked among the best crappie-fishing destinations in the nation, and with more than 10 million acres of land devoted to agriculture, it makes sense to feature all facets of the state’s outdoors activities in one show,” said Jack Fisher, the show director.
“This show will be an opportunity to see what is new in the hunting, fishing and agricultural worlds. Many things featured in this show will be available nowhere else, and experts in their fields will be on hand to discuss them and show people attending the show how they work.
In addition to all the great hunting, fishing and Ag related products we have our strongest lineup yet for kids ever.
- The MS Museum of Natural Science will be educating and entertaining on site all weekend
- There will be a REAL Abrams Army tank to climb on brought to you by your Army National Guard
- Kids Archery presented by Archery in Mississippi Schools (AIMS)
- Animals on site that kids can interact with by MS Therapy Animals
- Face Painting by Fantastic Face Painting MS
- Kids BB-Gun Range by the US Army
Admission for all kids will be free on Sunday, Feb. 19.
“Also, being invited by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture to share the fairgrounds with the Dixie National Livestock Show & Rodeo is a great honor. It shows what this state feels important, and that hunting, fishing, agriculture and the Rodeo go hand in hand. You can visit the Expo before you head into the Rodeo.”
Show hours will be noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19. Daily admission is $13 for adults, $7 for kids between ages 6 and 12, and free for kids ages 5 and under.
About the Foundation
In 2003, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) established a foundation to assist in protecting and preserving Mississippi’s wildlife heritage. The Foundation is the only outdoor organization that directly supports MDWFP, which has the primary responsibility for hunting, fishing, shooting sports and conservation in the state. Through the Foundation’s financial support, various wildlife and educational projects associated with MDWFP are made possible. The Foundation also helps fund many additional programs not directly associated with MDWFP whose goal is to preserve and protect Mississippi’s natural resources.
